The correct title of my favorite of Rachmaninov's liturgical works is "All-Night Vigil" because the setting begins at 6pm (Vespers) and ends at 9am (the close of Matins) the next day. In the Eastern Orthodox Church the All-Night Vigil is observed before religious feasts, which occur on Sunday.
